The Perfect Blend To Grow Your Business

As a child growing up in an Italian American home, every Sunday I would wake up to the sweet aroma of a fresh sauce cooking slowly on the stove top.

My dad loved to spend Sunday mornings creating that perfect blend for his pasta sauce.

It was quite a labor of love.  It took him several hours to make.

Now, the only way one could ever learn to imitate his process, was to watch carefully, then do it with him.  It was the only way to create the perfect blend that had been handed down to him from generations of family cooks.

The recipe?  Well, I learned some of the ingredients, anyway.

There had to be three kinds of meat used in his sauce and it all had to be prepared using a careful balance of ingredients.  This was all done while he was making fresh tomatoes as the “gravy” as we called it.  The meatballs had to have fresh parsley, garlic, and other ingredients.  So did the sausage… it had to be obtained from a certain butcher that made it from a particular region of Italy.

When I asked my dad for the recipe, he laughed.  “You have to cook with your heart, not with measurements and recipes,” he taught me.

So I woke up early one Sunday morning, determined to learn the “secret.”

It started with feeling the texture of the meat while rolling it up to make meat balls.

I had to learn the difference of smells for the sausage because it was filled with fresh fennel and other ingredients. How much to use?  Smell it and you’ll know!

A splash of red wine was added.  It was like a symphony of aromas!  I knew then what he meant by saying “You have to cook with your heart”  because doing this ritual I had to use the senses of smell, touch, sight, and even sound…yep…had to keep an “ear out” for the perfect temperature.  You don’t learn that from a recipe.

This created the perfect blend for our family’s sauce!

I mentioned I grew up in an Italian American neighborhood.

On Sundays, I could walk down the street and just through my sense of smell, I’d know where all those lovely aromas came from.  Each family had it’s own perfect blend.  No two households were ever the same.  I could tell by smell, what region each sauce (and family) was from.

There are no cookie cutter recipes for making the perfect sauce… recipes result in sauces that taste like they’re from a can… yuck!  Not what an Italian girl would ever do, he he he.

So why am I telling you this?

It’s funny, because this article is not about food at all.

But remembering the family sauce reminded me of the perfect blend that each of us tries to create with our online business.

Because I am Italian, I see the world through food.

Because I am a marketer, I see the world through a  marketer’s eye.

I look back at my childhood Sunday mornings and remember the perfect blend my father created, and through my marketer’s eye, I am reminded that each person has something unique to bring to the table.  Every online entrepreneur strives to create his/her own perfect blend with their online business.

What’s Your Online Business?

Is blogging your online business?

Maybe you’re an internet marketer, or have a primary opportunity you’re prospect hunting for.

There are many different types of online businesses you can have.

Do you know what type of online business you want to pursue?

The Perfect Blend

Usually, online businesses combine a variety of business models.

You might have a network marketing blog, for instance.

That combines blogging as a business model, along with network marketing.  It probably also includes personal branding, email marketing and might include operating a Facebook page, YouTube channel and other online properties.

It’s important to define your online business in order to assess how all the various components are operating together.

You don’t need to choose a single approach, but you do need to know how to find the perfect blend of business approaches for your business.

Here are some of the major business operatng models you might choose for your online business.

If You Already Have An Online Business…

If you already have an online business, you might think this article is not for you.

Actually, answering the question “what’s your online business?” is important for newbie online entrepreneurs… but it’s even more important for experienced ones.

I say that because I mentor with many bloggers, network marketers and others.  So many of them are “doing business” every day, but they really have a very vague idea of how to actually run an online business.

Some of the things they often don’t understand is…

  • how to get traffic to their business, blog or site
  • what to do with the traffic that comes to them
  • how to get some of that traffic onto their email list
  • how to get list subscribers to become buyers or downlines
  • how to maximize the value of  their prospects and buyers

In order to have them take their business to the next level, we get down to the work of getting these questions answered.  That usually requires defining and re-defining exactly what their online business is.  Beyond that, we explore options for re-shaping their business to perform better, and get them the results they’re trying to achieve.

If You’re New To Being An Online Entrepreneur…

If you’re just starting your first online business, you may have very little idea of what direction to head in.

Is it best to find an MLM or other primary opportunity to promote online?

Maybe you want to personally brand yourself as an expert and leader on your blog.

You might even want to find affiliate products to sell and promote.

The important thing to do is choose a business that resonates with you, and then learn how to make it work for you.

Start doing research, get training and, if you want to move things along faster and better, find a good mentor.

How To Make The Most Of Your Online Business

  • If you’re not sure what kind of online business is best for you…
  • If you’re not clear on how to combine a variety of approaches, to make the most of your online business…
  • If you have only a surface understanding of putting all the moving parts together to make your business perform the way you want it to…
  • If you would like to learn ways to pump your existing online business…
